Why Teacher's Day Is Celebrated?
In India, 5th September is celebrated as Teacher’s Day as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society.
5th September is the birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of India and above all, a teacher.
Teacher’s day is celebrated as a token of respect and appreciation and also to let the teachers know that they are being recognized as the reason for success in every individual’s life.
Why Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September?
Dr.Radhakrishnan born in a middle-class family but his confidence, concentration, and strong convictions went on to become a great philosopher and later on the president of India. It was the glory of the Indian democracy that an educationist aloof politics but with international acclaim as a profound scholar was placed in the position of the President. It was in 1962, some of his followers wanted his permission to celebrate the President's birthday. But he answered instead of celebrating his birthday, he will be much happier if 5th September is observed as Teachers'Day. Globally, Teachers Day is celebrated on 5th October; in India, we celebrate it on 5th September from 1962 onwards.
Teachers are part of our younger life for more than a decade until we graduate. They help mold our minds, talents, values, social skills and countless things. Yet they are less compensated and appreciated.
Even according to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi "Teachers determination and sincerity will shape the destiny of the nation as they are laying the foundation and the building blocks of the society".
Even though we mostly tend to not understand the value or importance of teachers in our life and always saw them as a person who gave more work or scolded when we did any mistakes, as we grow up and nail our dream jobs that’s when each teacher considers themselves as successful and that’s when even we realize the sacrifice every teacher took to mold us and make to a better individual so that our future would be an easier road with the knowledge they embark on us.
