Boycott China |
Low Quality of products: Overpopulation is a possible reason for manufacturing low-quality products. Some firms cannot find enough of the needed raw materials to produce goods that serve the customer requirements, producing instead versions made with cheaper or low-quality material. Chinese milk scandal 2008 is an example. The 2008 Chinese milk scandal was a significant food safety incident in China. The scandal involved milk and infant formula along with other food materials and components being adulterated with melamine. The chemical was used to increase the nitrogen content of diluted milk, giving it the appearance of higher protein content in order to pass quality control testing. Of an estimated 300,000 victims, 6 babies died from kidney stones and other kidney damages and an estimated 54,000 babies were hospitalized.
- Human Rights issues: Human rights campaigners say that China continues to target activists and their family members with harassment, imprisonment and torture. The government has frequently imprisoned people who have spoken about politically sensitive topics. In July, there was a crackdown on lawyers who worked on cases involving free speech and abuses of power. Amnesty International says that 245 lawyers and activists have been targeted since July. One of the best known, Li Heping, is still missing.
- Border conflicts: Border conflicts have occurred many times between China and their Neighbours. The death of 20 brave soldiers from the Indian Army on the intervening night of June 15-16 in Galwan Valley near Ladakh has enraged the country of 135 billion people. Emotions of patriotism and sovereignty run deep in our veins and the zeal to fight in whichever way possible to uphold the pride of India is paramount. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was stern in his address to the nation in wake of the incident .“I would like to assure the nation that the sacrifice of our jawans will not go in vain. For us, the unity and sovereignty of the country are most important. India wants peace but it is capable to give a befitting reply if instigated. Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind in that respect,”
- Covid-19 pandemic: China is responsible for such a deadly virus novel coronavirus, SARS coronavirus, and MARS coronavirus. A 33- year old doctor Li Wenliang who died of coronavirus infection, was earlier heavily criticized by the Chinese government for spreading rumours about a new kind of pneumonia but later declared him as a martyr. Another reason for the Covid-19 outbreak after the 2002 SARS epidemic is the uncontrolled wet market of China where live animals are sold for meat consumptions. The Vishva Hindu Parishad in India has called for a boycott of China in retaliation for China's allegedly being directly responsible for the Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus strain and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic.
- Self-reliant India: The call to boycott 'Made in China' products comes at a time when the government is promoting a campaign to make the country self-reliant under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.
- Security Concern: The apps are “prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defence of India, the security of the state and public order", the ministry of information technology said in a statement. 59 Chinese apps banned in India.

- Free Tibet Movement.
- Animal Cruelty in the name of Festival: Animal rights activists and campaigners, however, claim that the animals are treated cruelly. Some media outlets, including tabloids, have alleged that dogs are intentionally tortured or boiled alive to improve the taste of their meat. Traditional Chinese Medicine a cultural belief states that "the more the animal will suffer, the better their meat will taste, and the more medicinal purposes it will have". TCM practices have been known to locals all around China as their medicinal properties involve the torturing and hunting of hundreds of animal species. Yulin dog meat Festival is an annual celebration held in China. Thousands of dogs are reportedly consumed during this festival. The festival has drawn criticism both domestically and abroad.

How India can take advantage of the boycott of China?
Back in 2014, a kind of Swadeshi movement, Make in India, was launched by the Indian government. The campaign covers 25 sectors of the Indian economy to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India and encourage dedicated investments into manufacturing units. The present situation can lead to India’s great opportunity to attract these firms, bring investment and employment, and transfer technologies in our nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the message of Self-dependent (Aatmanirbhar). According to PM Narendra Modi, we all have to become self-dependent to sustain in this pandemic situation caused by a novel coronavirus. We are looking forward to attracting business companies to set up their warehouses, operational units, and offices. Also, we can attract foreign investments in our country and create employment opportunities as well. Every country is keeping an eye on the Indian market to carry out its operations. Also, other countries are boycotting Chinese services and companies. America and other countries have boycotted zoom, Chinese airlines, and more companies.
India will have to start production and manufacturing units to balance the falling economy and to generate employment in the country.
